Louth County Council has granted planning permission for 46 new homes on site at corner of The Long Avenue and Tom Bellew Avenue in Dundalk

Louth County Council has given the go ahead for 46 new homes at the Long Avenue in Dundalk.

Pangreen Limited applied to Louth County Council in May of this year for planning permission for the development, on a site at the corner of The Long Avenue and Tom Bellew Avenue in Dundalk.

Pangreen sought the go ahead for the demolition of the existing boundary wall which runs along The Long Avenue and Tom Bellew Avenue and the construction of a three to four-storey residential development to the southern portion of the site of 46 residential units.

The proposed homes comprise 19 two-bed ground floor apartments; 19 three-bed duplexes above accessed via external stairs; four three-bed apartments; three one-bed apartments and a studio apartment accessed via communal hall and staircore.

The proposed development includes communal amenity spaces and 47 parking spaces including 10 electric vehicle parking spaces, and would be accessed via a new vehicle entrance from Long Avenue. There are proposed pedestrian links located on The Long Avenue and Tom Bellew Avenue.

Other proposed roadworks include a cycle lane to Tom Bellew Avenue and alterations to kerb line for crossing points. New boundary treatments and communal bike stores and ESB substation building are also proposed.

The planning application also provides for associated groundworks, landscaping, drainage, engineering and ancillary works necessary to facilitate the development.

Pangreen said that the application includes a masterplan relating to the wider lands to the north of the site which has an application for a discount foodstore and coffee shop.

In 2022, Lidl Ireland GmbH was granted conditional planning permission for a two storey discount food store (supermarket) with ancillary off-licence sales area , with an integrated coffee shop unit, with amendments to the development approved in 2025.

Louth County Council made the decision to grant planning permission for the 46 new homes on 23 October, subject to 16 planning conditions.
