Dundalk Municipal District April meeting
Dundalk-Carlingford's Cllr Seán Kelly has welcomed news that Louth County Council is to install new peed limit and Stop signage in Ard Easmuinn in Dundalk.
Cllr Kelly's motion at the Dundalk Municipal District April meeting called for safety works at a junction within the estate, following a number of accidents. The Fianna Fáil councillor's motion stated:
"That Louth County Council carry out immediate works to improve safety at a junction within the Ard Easmuinn estate that has been the site of numerous road accidents over the past number of years..
"These works should include better signage and road markings and any other measure available to the Council that they believe would improve safety for road users, local residents and pedestrians in the area."
Replying to Cllr Kelly's motion, Mr David Jones, Director of Placemaking & Physical Development, said that "Signage (both Speed Limit and Stop signage) will be installed at various junctions within Ard Easmuinn, while line markings will also be refreshed. These works have already been issued to the respective contractors, for completion in the short term."
Welcoming the response from Mr Jones, Cllr Kelly said that he was one of the first people at the scene of a recent accident at the junction which saw one lady’s garden wall knocked over, and thanked the Council for acting on his request.
