Ardee archers excelling across the country

The Slaney Classic, a World Record Status 3D Competition, hosted by Slaney Archers, took place in the beautiful Coolbawn Woods, Rathnure Lower, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford
Once again there was plenty of success for the men and women from the Cuchulainn Archers, a successful local club which is based in Ardee.
In Senior Woman's Compound, Christina Rogers secured gold in another hotly contest event, while in the men’s Barebow category Gilbert McClelland took home a silver.
The Senior Men’s Compound category was full of top class archers. Representing Cuchulainn was Alan Convery, who bagged second place while Philip Fitzpatrick narrowly missed out on medal when his efforts saw him place fourth.
At the same time, Darrel Wilson was taking part in the Combined Northern Ireland Nationals and Open tournament, where he won the Silver medal.
This was a huge achievement. Given it is one of the more prestigious events held on the island.
All told it was a good weekend for CúChulainn, with a total of one gold and three Silver to add to the haul of medals won by club members this outdoor season.
With just a few more outdoor competitions to go, the Cuchulainn Archers are now looking forward to the Indoor Season, which is due to start in a matter of weeks.
Slaney Archers also hosted a 'Her Outdoors' event, where women of all ages had a 'go' at archery and were able to speak to some of the other athletes competing.
A lot of interested was generated by the event as the sport continues to grow and grow in popularity.
