Aura Leisure Dundalk to host Sunrise Swim in support of Pieta’s Darkness Into Light

Aura Leisure Dundalk to hosting a Sunrise Swim on Saturday 9 May
Aura Leisure Dundalk, as a proud community leisure centre, said it is delighted to support Pieta’s Darkness Into Light by hosting a Sunrise Swim on Saturday 9 May, from 5am to 6.45am offering an inclusive alternative for those who wish to take part but prefer the water to walking or running.
Darkness Into Light is a nationally recognised event that brings communities together at dawn to raise awareness and funds for Pieta’s suicide prevention and mental health support services.
Aura Leisure Dundalk said it recognises that participation looks different for everyone and is encouraging members of the community who enjoy swimming to mark the occasion with a meaningful sunrise swim.
Swimming is widely recognised as an excellent activity for promoting wellbeing and supporting positive mental health. By offering a Sunrise Swim, Aura aims to ensure that everyone in the community has an accessible and enjoyable way to show their support.
This swim has been officially registered by Aura as a community event, meaning there is:
- No requirement to register
- No sponsorship cards needed
- Swimmers can simply arrive on the morning
- Donations can be made on entry to the pool, with donation collection also taking place in the lead‑up to the event
Following the swim, Aura Leisure Dundalk says that participants are invited to stay on for a chat and a cuppa, creating space for connection, conversation and community support — values that lie at the heart of Darkness Into Light.
Aura Leisure Dundalk added that it encourages swimmers of all ages and abilities to take part, support mental health, and stand together as a community.
