Speaking to the Dundalk Democrat, Cllr Reilly said “I'm very deeply honoured and very humbled. It's great to be elected back into Louth County Council, since I was co-opted in July 2020. I hope to do my very best and give it the full 110% commitment over the year ahead.

The new Leas Cathaoirleach added, “it's a very very deep honour, there's nobody in my that's had any elected position before, I'm the first in my family to hold a position.

“I am very very thankful for the people who elected me in Dundalk- Carlingford into this position and I hope not to let them down in the year ahead.”
