This year's Darkness into Light takes place on Saturday 9 May at 4:15am at Dundalk Institute of Technology

Darkness Into Light, the annual fundraising event organised by Pieta and supported by Electric Ireland, returns to Dundalk and other venues across Louth next Saturday 9 May, with the Dundalk event starting at 4.15am at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT)

Each year the walk provides an opportunity for communities to come together to bring hope to people who have been impacted by suicide.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Darkness Into Light in Dundalk, a significant milestone for an event that has become a cornerstone of community support and solidarity. Over the past decade, the walk has brought thousands of people together in the early hours of the morning to stand in hope and raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention.

The Darkness into Light committee in Dundalk says that the importance of community involvement has never been greater. Each year, the event serves as a powerful reminder that no one has to face their struggles alone, and that collective support can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Darkness into Light Dundalk says that it is see increasing demand for local, in-person supports. Services provided by Pieta at the Redeemer Resource Centre are busier than ever, highlighting the ongoing need for accessible, face-to-face mental health services within the community.

Darkness Into Light plays a vital role in connecting people with these supports and encouraging open conversations around mental health.
