The Dundalk Roads Policing Unit was on patrol over the bank holiday

A routine traffic stop in Dundalk quickly escalated after Gardaí discovered that the driver in question was disqualified from driving for ten years and later tested positive for cocaine.

The Dundalk Roads Policing Unit was on patrol over the bank holiday when they spotted a van driver using a mobile phone while behind the wheel. Upon stopping the vehicle, they conducted a routine check using the Garda mobility app, which revealed that the driver had been banned from driving for a decade.

Further checks led to a roadside drug test, which returned a positive result for cocaine. The driver was arrested for multiple offences, and the vehicle was seized.
