Dundalk apprentices celebrate at inaugural LMETB Capstone Event

The event highlighted the exceptional talents of eight Apprentices who spent three years honing their craft
Dundalk hairdressing apprentices proudly celebrated the culmination of three years of dedication, creativity, and hard work at the inaugural LMETB Capstone Event, held in the historic and atmospheric Oriel Centre, Dundalk Gaol. This landmark occasion served as a Celebration for the Stage 3 Apprentices, the first cohort to qualify with a Level 6 in Hairdressing in LMETB region– a pioneering qualification in the field.
The event highlighted the exceptional talents of eight Apprentices who spent three years honing their craft. The Capstone event showcased their e-portfolios and mood boards, illustrating the inspiration behind their themes and creative journeys. Each apprentice designed a stunning hair look, complemented by wardrobe styling and makeup, embodying their chosen theme.
The Capstone included a professional photoshoot featuring the apprentices' models, who later dazzled during an unforgettable evening catwalk event. Family, friends, and invited guests joined the celebration, entering through a candlelit drawbridge into the evocative setting of Dundalk Gaol, perfectly framing the evening’s celebratory atmosphere.
Sadie Ward McDermott, Director of Further Education and Training at Louth Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB), delivered a warm welcome to the audience, commending the apprentices’ remarkable accomplishments and the innovative program that nurtured their talent.
Acknowledging Excellence and Support
The evening served as a testament to the apprentices’ unwavering commitment and passion for their craft. Presentations were made to LMETB management, tutors, and mentors, acknowledging their vital roles in supporting the apprentices throughout their journey.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the employers and mentors who embraced this apprenticeship program and provided invaluable guidance to our students. Your continued support has been instrumental in shaping the future of hairdressing in the Louth-Meath area,” the Dundalk Apprentices shared in a collective statement.
The apprentices also expressed gratitude to their tutors and LMETB staff for their encouragement, expertise, and dedication to their success.
