Dundalk author releases her second children's book

Following on from the success of her debut children’s novel ‘The Lucky Diamond’ local author Valinora Troy has released her second children’s novel ‘Revenge of Queen Rose.’
Valinora grew up in Blackrock, and after working for some years in Dublin, returned to Co Louth, and now lives in Dunleer.
Her mother, Geri Valentine, published a series of children’s books in the 1990s and she fondly remembers her influence as she grew up in Blackrock with ten brothers and sisters.
The Lucky Diamond is a children’s fantasy series for ages 8-12. Book one was a semi-finalist in this year’s Book Bloggers Novel of the Year Award (BBNYA).
The first and second books are both recommended by LoveReading4Kids and LoveReading4Schools, UK premier book recommendation sites.
The covers of both books by artist Elizabeth Eckstein were finalists in The Wishing Shelf Cover Awards.
Speaking on the release of her first book, Valinora told the Democrat how growing up in Dundalk has influenced her writing.
“I think they [her stories] are influenced by growing up so near the border.”
“My countries are often divided politically and Lucky’s home is in a place called ‘The Rock of Diamonds’ and she talks about ‘the Rock’ a lot, much as when I was growing up we talked about ‘going down the Rock’ meaning Blackrock village.”
The Lucky Diamond and Revenge of Queen Rose are available in Roe River Books on Park Street, Dundalk. It can also be bought in any Bookhaven branch in Dublin, and in the usual online outlets (Amazon Barnes & Noble, etc) and upon request from most bookshops.
