Oisin Lennon from Dundalk takes centre stage in the world-renowned production Lord of the Dance during a stop in Berlin, Germany on its European tour this week.

On Sunday 26 April this young star in the making turned his dreams into reality, making his first debut as principal dancer of the famous show following in his auntie's footsteps, who performed with Micheal Flatley in the original cast 30 years ago. Remarkably, Oisín was given just a few hours’ notice before going on stage.

Oisín Lennon, from Greenwood Drive in Dundalk, began his Irish dancing journey at an early age, having been born into the prestigious Scoil Rince Mona Ní Rodaigh.

His grandmother, Mona Rodaigh Lennon, is a revered figure in Irish dance, with a legacy spanning 55 years of teaching across Louth and Armagh.

She is widely respected for nurturing some of the most accomplished dancers in the local area. Speaking about Oisín’s achievement, Mona said he is “an incredible role model for all the young dancers in the school” adding that his success is “a great inspiration to them all.”

Due to the short notice of his Berlin debut, Oisín’s parents, Aidan and Emily, along with his sister Katie and other family members, were unable to attend the performance, but they are looking forward to seeing him when the production travels to the UK later this summer.

Katie said she is “so proud” of her brother and “can’t wait to see him perform as the lead” on the upcoming tour.
