Dundalk Democrat sign shines on national stage through artist’s royal nomination

The awards ceremony, held at St James’s Palace, celebrated outstanding contributions
A proud moment for Navan-based traditional signwriter Neil Cunningham has also turned into a moment of national exposure for the Dundalk Democrat. Neil, who has been honing his craft through a Heritage Craft programme supported by The King’s Foundation, was recently shortlisted for the prestigious Emerging Talent Award.
The awards ceremony, held at St James’s Palace, celebrated outstanding contributions across the charity's community of students, alumni, and mentors. While Neil did not take home the top prize, he was the only nominee interviewed by Good Morning Britain.
One of the highlights of his interview was a hand-painted sign Neil created for the old Dundalk Democrat offices on Earl Street.
The sign featured in the televised segment.
