Gardai say the driver tried to evade them but was contained by their trained RPU crews

Dundalk Roads Policing Unit were out last Friday evening patrolling when they saw the driver of a VW Golf travelling at speed down the Castletown Road.

When gardai caught up with the vehicle the driver wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

Gardai say the driver tried to evade them but was contained by their trained RPU crews.

The driver then made things worse by refusing to comply with a breath test at the roadside and was arrested.

Gardai say the driver later blew twice over the limit at the station.

The vehicle was also seized for a number of offences and a prosecution has commenced
