Dundalk RPU (Roads Policing Unit) say they had a number of units out on patrol over the bank holiday and detected numerous motorists committing offences including two trucks.

In one instance the driver of a Ford Transit did not have licence or insurance. It was also found that their tax had also expired and their tyres were in dangerous condition

In the second incident, the driver of a van on the M1 also did not have insurance and the vehicle had never been taxed in the state. The driver further tested positive for cocaine and was arrested
