DkIT recently launched a bursary with WuXi Vaccines and Wu-xi Biologic’s WiSTEM initiative
Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) 3rd year Science students recently visit WuXi Biologics and WuXi Vaccines state of the art facility.
Recently DkIT’s School of Health and Science launched a new bursary programme in conjunction with WuXi Vaccines and Wu-xi Biologic’s WiSTEM initiative which saw two female 3rd year science students at DkIT being awarded €1,500 financial support as they progress through their degree.
A spokesperson for the college said: "DkIT is the leading higher education provider in the region and are completely committed to STEM, one of the fastest growing industry sectors both locally and nationally. DkIT’s recent opening of the New Jocelyn Bell Burnell Building cemented the Institutes investment to increase capacity on Life Science, Health Science and Agri-Food programmes, helping DkIT to meet the growing demand from employers in the region for high-quality graduates in these specialised areas."
Dr Gillian Lambe, Head of Department of Life & Health Sciences, DkIT said: “We’d like to thank Wu-Xi Biologics and Wu-Xi Vaccines for the warm welcome the students received in their facility. Laboratory tours of this ilk are a superb way for students to see science in action in industry and the group learned so much.
"On the day the team in Wu-Xi facilitated an extremely informative questions and answers session for our students. It was also great to see so many DkIT graduates working in situ in Wu-Xi Biologics, Wu-Xi Vaccines and utilising their learnings from DkIT in the real world”.
