Christopher Duffy wins a silver medal in bowling at Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games
Dundalk Special Olympics Club is celebrating a fantastic international achievement after club member Christopher Duffy won a Silver Medal for Ireland in bowling at the Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games 2026 in Malmö.
Christopher travelled to Sweden as part of Team Ireland’s eight-strong bowling team, proudly representing Ireland, Dundalk and his local Special Olympics club on the international stage.
After all the hard work and preparation leading up to the Games, Christopher produced a superb performance to claim Silver for Ireland, while fellow Team Ireland bowler Conor Hegarty also enjoyed a fantastic competition, winning Gold.
Christopher’s success follows months of preparation, with valuable support at home from GR8 in Dundalk, who helped him with his training ahead of the international competition.
Dundalk Special Olympics Club Chairperson Damian Mackin thanked GR8 for their support and congratulated Christopher on his achievement.
“Everyone at Dundalk Special Olympics Club is incredibly proud of Christopher. To see one of our athletes representing Ireland and coming home with an international Silver Medal is a wonderful achievement.
“We are also very grateful to GR8 for the support they gave Christopher with his preparation and training.”
Christopher had some very special supporters with him in Malmö, with his family travelling to Sweden to cheer him on throughout the competition.
His Silver Medal is a proud moment not only for Christopher and his family, but also for Dundalk Special Olympics Club and the wider Dundalk community.
“Congratulations Christopher — you represented Ireland and Dundalk with distinction, and everyone at the club is extremely proud of you!”, a spokesperson said.
“Successes like Christopher’s begin at club level, with athletes supported week after week by dedicated volunteers. Dundalk Special Olympics Club is always looking for new volunteers to help provide sporting opportunities for our athletes.
“If you have some time to give and would like to get involved, the club would love to hear from you.”
