Dundalk's Cllr Kelly calls for urgent works at St Patrick's Cemetery

Cllr Seán Kelly has called for an urgent clean up at St Patrick's Cemetery
Dundalk-Carlingford's Cllr Seán Kelly has called for an urgent clean up at St Patrick's Cemetery in Dowdallshill, and has asked Louth County Council to share its plans for the cemetery.
Cllr Kelly has written to Director of Service, Mr David Jones, saying that he is “shocked and appalled by the condition it is in”.
Cllr Kelly said that some of the green areas and the laneways are “completely overgrown” and that it “hinders access to graves it is so overgrown”.
Recognising that recent weather has delayed maintenance work at the cemetery, Cllr Kelly asked that “Can we please urgently address this matter?
“If the staff on site need additional support from other outdoor council crews or we need to get in an external contractor to get on top of this issue?”
Cllr Kelly went on to say that, “people are rightly vexed and annoyed and I don't blame them. This is a resting place for loved ones. They must be treated with a certain level of dignity and respect and this cannot continue.”
He added, “I have grandparents buried here, and so do most of the town. It's so disheartening and disappointing to see it like this”, and requested that Mr Jones reply to him with the local authority's plans for the cemetery.
