Dundalk South's Cllr Robert Nash raised the issue of double parking at the Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) end of Hoey's Lane in Dundalk, at the Dundalk Municipal District November meeting, which took place last week at the Town Hall.

Cllr Nash requested that Louth County Council look into placing double yellow lines at the approach to Hoey's Lane on the old Dublin Road, adding that there seemed to be people double parking at the spot on a daily basis.

The Fine Gael councillor further added that he felt that as a further long term addition at the location, a pedestrian crossing should be installed as a lot of students were traversing to get to DkIT.

Replying to Cllr Nash, Senior Engineer, Paddy Connolly, said that the Council was looking into installing double yellow lines at the location.

Mr Connolly added that he has asked Louth County Council's Safety Officer, Mr Adrian O'Sullivan, to pass on to An Garda Síochána that there is a lot of people parking on footpaths in that area, which is illegal, and they were asking An Garda Síochána to look into the issue.
