The night also highlighted the many different projects completed by Dunleer Tidy Towns in 2023

The Dunleer Community Awards were held on  Thursday 30th November in the Grove House.

On the night, the group highlighted the great effort many people make in trying to keep their gardens and estates up to a good standard.

They also highlighted the children of Scoil Bhride who received plaques for showcasing in their art what biodiversity was all about.

A slide show highlighted the great areas of interest around Dunleer and the gardens of the winners and other events during the year.

The night also highlighted the many different projects completed by Dunleer Tidy Towns and what they hope to complete in 2024.

The biggest achievement of the year was the opening of the garden of Remembrance on Ardee Road opposite Scoil Bhride with particular emphasis on the Women of the Revolution of 1916.

The park was named The Grace Gifford Plunkett Garden of Remembrance and Reflection.

Grace was married to Joseph Plunkett the night before he was executed by the occupying forces and also had association with Brigid Kelly of Grangebellew while in Kilmainham Gaol.

A spokesperson for Dunleer Tidy Towns said:

“This was all possible through the great benevolence of our sponsor Martin Naughton in collaboration with the Dunleer Tidy Towns.

“At the presentation we also highlighted the great part our sponsors played in helping to bring the town forward at a much faster pace.
