Celebrations are sure to be underway in Dundalk this week after a player became the 21st National Lottery multi- millionaire of 2023.

The Dundalk winner bagged a Lotto Jackpot worth €2,418,002 in Saturday night’s draw making them the eighth Lotto jackpot winner so far this year.

The winning numbers for Saturday night’s Lotto draw were: 12, 26, 28, 34, 42, 45 and the bonus was 14

Last Saturday’s Lotto draw saw over 83,000 players win prizes across the Lotto and Lotto Plus games.

A National Lottery spokesperson said:

“It’s been a life-changing weekend for a Louth Lotto player who now has a ticket worth over €2.4 million.

“Ireland’s newest millionaire has officially become the 21st National Lottery millionaire of 2023."

The location of the selling store will be announced tomorrow.

This is the second big Lotto win for the town in a year with Sloane's newsagents, on Avenue Road in Dundalk selling a Lotto Plus 1 winning ticket worth €1,000,000 last September to an anonymous local winner.

At the time the winner spoke of how they felt when they found out they’d won the life-changing prize:

“I was in complete shock, you always hope you’re going to win big but you never think it’s actually going to be you!”, they said.

“I waited two months to claim the prize because I really wanted to let the win sink in and come to terms with it.

“I didn’t want to rush out spending it all! I want to keep life as normal as possible going forward.”

When asked what they might spend their winnings on, the winner replied:

“I’m looking forward to going on more holidays and seeing a bit more of the world. I also might get some nicer presents for the family this Christmas.”

This latest win is also the third time the Lotto Jackpot has been scooped in just four weeks following wins in Balbriggan, Dublin on the 8th of July where a player won €3,931,066 and Donegal and Westmeath where two players shared the jackpot to take home €6,373,878 each in Saturday’s 17th of June draw.

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage, and the Irish Language.

In total more than €6 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 35 years ago

In 2021 alone, €304 million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
