Fewer than 170 new homes commenced in Louth so far this year
Just eight new apartments commenced so far this year
Work began on just 169 new homes in Louth in the first six months of this year, the latest data from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage has shown, the lowest number of new commencements in the first half of the year since 2016.
It is down from 1,495 in the first six month of 2024, and 1,701 in the second half of the year. June was the most active month of this year so far, with work beginning on 94 new homes, up from 36 in May; 11 in April; 10 in March; eight in February; and 10 in January.
Of the 94 new homes commenced in June of this year, four were one off houses. So far this year work commenced on 36 new one off houses in Louth, down from 66 in the first half of last year, and also down from 49 in the second half of last year.
Just eight new apartments were commenced in June 2025, this is the first month of this year though where work has commenced on any apartments at all in Louth.
Nationally, work began on 1,356 new homes in June, and 6,325 in the first half of this year. It is the lowest number of homes commenced in the first half of the year since 2016.
