Louth GAA have hinted that the DkIT Sport Louth Junior final will be pushed back to Saturday 7th of October.

A further six days after the original fixed date of the 1st of October. Chairman of the CCC Peter McGrane accepted that the required action would need to be taken after St. Nicholas graciously handed Glyde Rangers a quarter final playoff this Friday night.

The olive branch comes after the Rathmullen based club were told at committee meeting last Wednesday night that they would win any objection if it went to the Disputes Resolution Authority.

The Nicks were deemed to be knocked out of the championship in the group stages under the new ‘mini league’ ruling.

However, Louth GAA had informed clubs at the beginning of the season that they were using the 2022 competition rulings and under those guidelines the Drogheda side should have went through at Glyde’s expense.

With that case in their favour and in order to not hold up the championship, St. Nicholas offered the playoff to Glyde Rangers, as any objection to the GAA Council could take weeks.

The offer was initially refused by the Tallanstown club on the night but having spoken with the club board and players they decided to accept.

Despite the objection being made after the three day window, that precedent didn’t apply as St. Nicholas were not aware of rules being broken, just incorrect rules applied.

Lann Léire you could argue are suffering the most from the litigation as they must wait a further two weeks to face the winners of the intriguing playoff.
