Late on Wednesday night the Democrat received a statement claiming to be from a group called Silverlane Ireland claiming it has recently been in talks with Dundalk FC over a possible takeover of the club.

The group claims to have met with several investors and to have approached the owners of Dundalk FC a number weeks ago with a view to transferring full ownership to rebuild the club.

The Statement read:

“Positive talks have already taken place with the owners. However, dialogue from the club has not progressed much. The investment group remains ready to continue talks to support Dundalk FC at this crucial juncture.

“Our aim is clear - to lead a successful takeover of the club and to oversee investment over the next few years.

“We have a vision - to develop the club and its facilities to a central hub of activity, at the heart of the community, and to lead us back to becoming an unparalleled football club both on and off the pitch. We want to bring the club to a UEFA category four venue in an effort to compete with Tallaght Stadium for both national and European games.”

The statement said the group had identified several available avenues of immediate revenue alongside more long-term, sustainable measures.

This, they say, includes.

 - Opening the indoor pitches to the public on a full-time basis to include the installation of a new gym.

 - Solar panels to lower energy costs

 - Installing a community sensory room and a coffee shop open seven days a week.

 - Interim arrangements are also in place with former premier league footballers to attend the club for a series of exciting talks open to the wider LOI fanbase.

The statement concluded:

“John Temple, a director of the investment group, leads discussions on our behalf and remains ready to continue talks with the current owners of Dundalk FC to ensure its transfer and development right now.”
