The number of house commencement in Louth rose in November, compared to October, but remain lower than the number of commencements in the county in November of last year, according to data released last Thursday by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

According to the monthly data on the number of Commencements Notices (residential construction starts) for November 2023, work began on 78 new homes in Louth. This is up from 54 in October but is down however on the 108 commencements in Louth in November 2022.

Looking at the year to date, the total number of commencements in Louth in the first 11 months of this year, has exceeded the number of commencements for the whole of 2022.

Work began on 1,082 new homes in Louth up to the end of November this year. This compares to 809 commencements in Louth during the 12 months of 2022.

Of the 78 commencements in November, just five were one off residential units. There has been a fall in Louth in the number of commencements of one off units this year, compared to 2022.

Work commenced on 73 one off units in Louth in the first 11 months of this year, compared to 121 during the first 11 months of 2022, and 138 in the first 11 months of 2021.
