Cllr John Reilly says that north Louth is being “badly let down by the mobile phone operators”, and is calling on customers to

complain to their provider about poor coverage.

The Fine Gael councillor said that mobile phone providers are “well aware of the different black spots for mobile phone coverage right across north Louth from the Shelagh area in Hackballscross to Lordship and down in the Whitestown,

Templetown area”.

He told the Dundalk Democrat that “my patience is wearing thin with the different mobile operators, they have spent time on

surveys, especially in the Cooley area and yet very little work has been done outside the Carlingford and Omeath villages which now have widespread 4G coverage.

“Louth Co Council have granted permissions for five booster poles in north Louth to help provide 4G coverage to some of the areas affected with poor coverage.

“Yet not one single pole has been installed to improve the coverage in this area. My concern is that the mobile providers will sit on their hands and not reinvest in the infrastructure to fix this issue once and for all.”

Calling on people in the region to voice their concerns, Cllr Reilly said that “I believe if enough customers complained to

their provider the mobile service providers will have to sit up and take action.”

He added, “I will be asking for a timeframe for the installation of this new equipment, which will greatly enhance the affected

areas which all have poor coverage.”
