Speaking following the communication this afternoon Cllr Byrne has said;
“The Council need to be commended for getting behind the initiative organised by ‘Our Place, Our community’. Never in my 8 years on the Council have I seen so many senior staff, including the CE join residents, elected reps and stakeholders on a 2hr engaging walk around an area discussing the issues that are affecting the community.
"Action on many of these issues has been swift and prompt, from additional amenities including another community house, to a dedicated focus on dereliction, vacancy and traffic and dumping. All of these measures will ease the burden on residents and help rebuild a community that is proud, passionate and invested in bettering their area. The ‘Our Place, Our Community’ group, supported by Connect FRC were clear in the resources they need to support them and I’m delighted to have played my part in aiding them and delivering this."
"Moneymore and it’s wider area is full of great people and although they have been overlooked in recent years by those tasked with servicing their needs, they stood tall and kept their area on the agenda, and hat’s off to them.I will continue to throw my weight behind this campaign but today is a positive day for all involved, all of their hard work and persistence is beginning to pay off.”
