Dundalk Municipal District April meeting

Cllr Antóin Watters has asked Louth County Council to engage with Inland Fisheries and the Inisowen Fishing Trust to discuss how they dealt with flooding on the Inisowen Peninsula in 2017.

Cllr Watters said he was trying to try help find solutions for landowners whose lands were flooded following last Halloween's floods and heavy rains since. He said that local people were in touch with him due to flooding coming onto people's land again following more rain and a high water table.

The Sinn Féin councillor said landowners have received no support and are “left with serious bills to try and clear properties and back up rivers.”

Senior Engineer Mark Johnston acknowledged that there was funding to help landowners in the money coming from government, so they can't help them directly but said they would look to set up the meeting as requested by Cllr Watters.
