Man kicked door of partner's apartment, Dundalk District Court heard

Gardaí who responded to a call of a man kicking the door of an apartment, found the defendant sleeping in the garden of the property, Dundalk District Court heard last week.
The 26 year old gave the wrong name to them and when he was charged he became abusive and aggressive.
Colin McKenna now with an address c/o the Simon Community, Barrack Street, Dundalk was before the court charged with being intoxicated in a public place, using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour and providing a false name to Gardai on the Castletown Road, Dundalk on February 25th last.
He was also prosecuted for public order offences at Peter Street on October 5th last year.
The court heard he had 17 previous convictions.
The defence solicitor said the most recent previous conviction dated back to 2017 and his client has had very little good fortune in recent times.
He explained the property in question was his partner's apartment.
He has a difficulty with alcohol and after they suffered the bereavement of their four month old child he unfortunately fell into that habit, but the solicitor stressed that his client has a good work history and has re-established his relationship.
Judge Eirinn McKiernan imposed a two month sentence for the threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour charge, which was suspended on the defendant entering a bond to be of good behaviour for 12 months.
