Dundalk Municipal District December meeting

Louth County Council has not yet received a response from the Department of Rural and Community Development on a request for an enhanced Local Improvement Scheme (LIS) to help with the repairs to private roads that were impacted by the recent floods in North Louth.

This was revealed to councillors at the Dundalk Municipal District December meeting, following a query from Cllr John Reilly on the matter.

Cllr Reilly asked if there would be an enhanced LIS and Community Involvement Scheme (CIS) to upgrade the local roads.

Cllr Reilly also enquired if there would be works done on an access road that leads to the Proleek Dolmen as it was severley damaged in the floods.

He added that there are two private houses there, as well as the OPW site, and that the Dolmen is a protected structure.

In response, Senior Engineer Paddy Connelly said that there was no plans for works on that road.

Mr Connelly added that Director of Service David Jones has contacted the Department of Rural and Community Development in relation to an enhanced LIS and CIS, particularly in the Cooley area but as of yet, there has been no response.
