IT HAS been revealed that a planning application for a climate action centre behind a Dunleer landmark has been submitted to Louth County Council.

Dunleer Community Development Board have sought permission for single-storey meeting rooms, also to be used as a climate change centre of excellence, to the rear of the back garden of The Market House.

The proposed rooms are to be seperate from the house itself, but remain on the grounds of "special archaeological interest."

It is said that the Dunleer Sustainable Energy Community (SEC) "intend to utilise the space for their Centre of Excellence on Climate Action Education."

In addition, "their education delivery will take the format of audio-visual displays and some static displays to engage audiences with climate actions that can be embedded within homes and communities."

The location is also sought to be a location to host lectures and activation programmes from visiting professionals, which will include in-person deliveries with the option of online learning.

No decision has yet been made on the proposal, but the documents can be viewed or inspected at the Louth County Council offices from 9:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
