RSS helping maintain St Brigid’s Shrine in north Louth

Louth Local Development welcomes Seamus Roe role in maintaining St. Brigid’s Shrine at Faughart
Louth Local Development says it is "delighted" to have Seamus Roe on the Rural Social Scheme (RSS) since May 2023. Seamus, it says, has taken on the important role of maintaining St. Brigid’s Shrine at Faughart, a cherished site in Co. Louth known for its historical and spiritual significance.
As part of his duties under the RSS, Seamus is responsible for ensuring that the environment surrounding the shrine remains pristine and welcoming to all visitors. His work includes cutting the grass, tending to the landscape, and keeping the shrine free of litter. His dedication helps preserve the serene atmosphere of St. Brigid’s Shrine, allowing it to remain a peaceful place for reflection and prayer.
The sponsorship and support provided by Kilcurry Tidy Towns have been instrumental in this effort. Louth Local Development says their commitment to the local community and environment aligns perfectly with Seamus’s work, ensuring that St. Brigid’s Shrine continues to be a place of beauty and tranquillity.
"We are thrilled to have Seamus on board through the Rural Social Scheme," said Frank O’Brien, Chairperson for Louth Local Development. "His efforts in maintaining St. Brigid’s Shrine are invaluable, and we are grateful for his hard work and dedication."
St. Brigid’s Shrine at Faughart is not only a significant religious site but is also seen as a vital part of the local heritage. The contributions of individuals like Seamus and organisations such as Kilcurry Tidy Towns is seen to play a crucial role in preserving this important landmark for future generations.
