Something for everyone at this year's Dundalk Show
The 2026 Dundalk Agricultural Show is just over a month away
The 2026 Dundalk Agricultural Show is just over a month away and plenty of entries are coming in for the different classes. Show Day is Sunday June 14th in Bellurgan Park and again there will be plenty of activities to suit all ages.
There are classes for Children, covering Arts and Crafts, Writing and Language, Gardening and Baking and a Youth and School Project “Create a Dressed Scarecrow”.
A new section this year is “Youth Competitions” for those aged 13 to 16 years covering Cookery and Handcrafts. There is a LEGO section with classes for children and adults.
The Home Industries section includes Crafts, Art, Needlework, Baking, Preserves and Photography and the Horticulture section with classes for Plants and Vegetables and Floral Art.
Equine competitions have classes for Riding Horses and Ponies, In Hand Showing and new this year are the classes for Working Hunters.
Cattle classes cover all the main continental breeds as well as commercial and Highland cattle and there are Young Handler classes and Qualifiers.
The Sheep section in this year’s Dundalk Show has a lot to offer with many of the regular breeds being exhibited but also some All Ireland Finals in Suffolk, Dassenkop, Blue Texel, Cheviot, Crossbred Mule and North East Championships in Texel and Lleyn. The Sheep section also includes a class for Young Handlers.
This year there was concern that the Poultry section might not have been held due to bird flu concerns but the Department of Agriculture has lifted its poultry housing restrictions and this came as a huge relief to Dundalk Show members, who say they look forward to seeing hard and soft feathered birds, rare breeds, bantams and of course eggs in the ever popular Poultry section.
For those who love “Man’s Best Friend”, the Dog section is sure to delight everyone with classes for Pedigree, Rescue, Gun/Working, Veteran, Family, Traditional, Best Groomed and Puppies. There is also the All Ireland Irish Native Breed Dog Championship Qualifier.
There are other Show Day competitions where adults and children get to dress up. There are Best Dressed Lady and Gent competitions and babies and children can enter classes such as Floral & Nature Fantasy, Fairy Tale Farming, Wild West, Princess Farmers, Superhero Farmers, Vintage Country Style, Family-Super Siblings, Family-Mini Me & Me and Fabulous Family.
There is still time to enter the various classes. General enquiries can be made to 086-2503113 and entries can also be made online at www.dundalkshow.com
