Oscar nominee's obsession to perform in Dundalk Gaol

Cork legends, The Frank and Walters, the band who Oscar nominee Cillian Murphy regards as his obsession, will perform an intimate acoustic gig in the Oriel Centre, Dundalk Gaol on Saturday 23 March 2024.

In a recent interview on BBC Radio 4 Desert Island Discs, actor and Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy, said that in his younger years that he used to be obsessed with The Frank and Walters and used to go to all their gigs. Cillian continues to be a major fan and performed a stirring spoken word verse on the Frank and Walters single “Stage".

The Frank and Walters originally became world famous on the ‘90s indie scene and have produced seven studio albums. Thanks to the cult comedy show ‘The Young Offenders’, the band captured a whole new audience when their hit single ‘After All’ featured in the infamous ‘Billy Murphy’ bus hijack scene.

With a back catalogue of hundreds of songs penned over three decades, the band play all the favourites and some long-lost classics in all their acoustic glory. Expect to hear hits such as ‘After All’ and ‘Fashion crisis hits New York’ coupled with timeless classics like ‘How can I exist’ and ‘Landslide’.

Live performances from The Frank and Walters are always guaranteed to be a fun experience with Paul regaling the audience of tales of his conversations with Paul McCartney, how the band may have poisoned Noel Gallaghers goldfish by mistake,  working with Ian Broudie of the Lightning Seeds, and Edwyn Collins, and being Grand Marshals for the Cork St Patrick’s Day Parade.

Just like the recent sold out Vladimir Jablokov performance in The Oriel Centre, tickets for this show will sell out, so early booking is advised. Tickets are €30 and are available from The Oriel Centre or online www.orielcentre.ie.
