David Gibson OBE is an entrepreneur with strong experience of practical entrepreneurship
The Department of Management and Financial Studies at Dundalk IT recently welcomed Professor David Gibson OBE, author of The E-Factor, The 21st Century Guide to Entrepreneurial Thinking to give their Annual Accounting Lecture. Professor Gibson spoke with the Bachelor of Business (Hons), and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting and Finance students about the core qualities that define successful entrepreneurs.
David Gibson OBE is an entrepreneur with strong experience of practical entrepreneurship and higher education. With over twenty years of teaching and training experience he has won a ‘National Teaching Fellowship’ and was awarded the Higher Education Authority’s ‘Most Innovative Educator in the UK’.
He defined the E-factor as a model of entrepreneur and innovation skills with 8 E-factor competencies. During his engaging guest lecture, he gave an account of his career to date and shared insights from his book, focusing on these eight key characteristics every entrepreneur should embody.
David’s presentation not only brought these traits to life but also sparked great discussions on how students can start building them in their entrepreneurial journeys. It was a fantastic session with plenty of input from the students, and all present were grateful for his valuable advice and time. DkIT were also delighted to welcome past Accounting and Finance graduate Thomas McDonagh, who is now Director at UHY Farrelly Dawe White.
