ALERT: Clare motorists warned of road closure as major Uisce Éireann project gets underway

Uisce Éireann is set to begin works at Old Doolough, Coore next week to drive down leakage and improve supply to the local community
Uisce Éireann is set to begin works at Old Doolough, Coore in west Clare next week to drive down leakage and improve supply to the local community.
The works involve the replacement of over 6.3km of old and damaged water mains, prone to bursts as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme and will take place along the L-2116 Cloonlaheen West, Mullagh and L-2098 Doonogan, Mullagh.

"By strengthening the resilience of the network, we’re enabling communities like Coore to thrive with a more secure and reliable water supply. I would like to thank the community for their support and patience while works are ongoing,” added Jack Cronin.
Uisce Éireann says areas of work will be limited to short sections and carried out in two phases to minimise impact on customers. Traffic management will be in place at this time, in the form of two road closures. A signposted diversion route will be in place. Local and emergency traffic will always be maintained.
Any road closures will take place in a phased approach. The first road closure will be along the L-2116 Cloonlaheen West and will be in effect from this Monday, November 10 until the end of the year.
Following this, a second road closure will take place along L-2098 Doonogan, Mullagh with further details being communicate, closer to the time.
Ward and Burke Construction Ltd is carrying out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann with the project expected to be complete during the summer of 2026.
