Clare golfer returns to home county for major competition in local course

GREAT news for golfing fans, as another all star player is added to a global event in Clare.
The KPMG Women’s Irish Open is again on in Dromoland Castle, Clare from August 31 to September 31 and Clare native and professional golfer Áine Donegan has been added to the star studded scorecard.
Waving the Banner colours and indeed, the Irish tricolour in Pebble Beach at the US Women’s Open most recently, Áine will tee off in her home county.
The Ennis native most recently missed out on a US Women’s Open silver medal due to illness, but will be looking to make an athletic comeback in her hometown this coming August.
It will be the second time that Dromoland hosts the KPMG Women’s Irish Open and other female golfers including German star Olivia Cowan will be teeing off on the luxurious castle grounds, as well as Irish star Leona Maguire.
The competition saw over 25,000 spectators last year, with athletes competing for a €400,000 prize fund.
