ANOTHER outdoor experience, in aid of a young person’s mental health charity, is returning ahead of this August bank holiday weekend.

The Feel the Burren family run event will be taking place again on Saturday, August 5, from 11am - 2pm, where people will descend the rocky terrain of the Burren, County Clare in aid of the Jigsaw charity.

Feel the Burren is a 10km run/walk experience, set up and run by the local McCormack family, who held their first event in January, 2020.

Participants are encouraged to “set their own pace” and “take time on the day to enjoy the adventure”. The Feel the Burren event is “committed to the promotion of mental health awareness and personal wellbeing”, seeing Jigsaw as this August’s beneficiaries.

Testimonials from previous attendees are all positive, with one man Dennis Geers, saying: “This is going to be the electric picnic of challenge runs - the course is a challenge, but not impossible and the scenery is beautiful.

“If you missed January, sign up for the next session, as this is something not to be missed!”

The course begins in the lowlands of a working farm, and rises into the landscape of the Burren, over North Clare Drumlins. Coming toward the final third of the 10km run/walk is Bouleevin Hill, where the summit provides scenery over Clare and Galway for miles.
