Former CEO and businesswoman officially takes up role as Clare councillor

A NEW Clare county councillor has been officially welcomed into the council chamber, marking the first meeting of the year with ‘new beginnings’.
Businesswoman Rita McInerney of Doonbeg has now been sworn in as a local authority representative and has replaced the retired Cllr Bill Chambers.
The former Ennis Chamber CEO was labelled “passionate” and an “inspiring figure” upon her official uptake of Cllr Chamber’s vacated seat.
To kick-off Clare County Council’s first meeting of the year, many council members offered their congratulations to the new Cllr McInerney.
“Your retail experience will be very helpful and you will bring a fantastic mix of abilities to the Chamber”, one councillor said upon welcoming Cllr McInerney, with another wishing her the best in her role, saying: “Live well and have meaningful employment”.
