MINISTER for Skills Niall Collins T.D. has published the Mid-West regional skills forum annual report in the new Digital Collaboration Centre (DCC) Dominick Street.
The Mid-West regional skills forum is a Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science initiative. It is managed by Joe Leddin and supports businesses across the Mid-West region in assessing and developing skills for their employees.
It brings together:
* employers
* education and training providers
* enterprise agencies
* local authorities
* government bodies
During the course of 2023, the forum supported SME’s with their digital transformation plans in partnership with Digital Manufacturing Ireland based in Plassey, Limerick.
The forum facilitated meetings of the rebranded Digital Midwest (formerly Limerick for IT) tech cluster to advise on funding and up-skilling supports in areas such as cyber, data analytics, while work is ongoing in the development of a new national apprenticeship in Software Testing in partnership with TUS.
Several up-skilling industry roadshows took place during the year across the region to help employers and employees’ avail of various courses and training programmes.
In addition, a number of business briefings took place to inform and support employers with addressing the challenges of talent attraction and retention in a challenging labour market.
The forum has established and works in partnership with several industry networks across manufacturing, ICT, hospitality, logistics, retail and construction.
Further details on the regional skills network can be found at www.gov.ie/regionalskills.
