Showcase organised by Amanda Clifford, ABC for Mental Health

A CITY centre micro-brewery and pub is to double up as an art gallery for the next two weeks.

Treaty City in Nicholas Street has teamed up with Amanda Clifford of ABC for Mental Health for the group’s annual exhibition.

It kicks off at 7pm this Friday night, September 27, with a special launch event.

Then people can browse the artworks during Treaty City’s normal hours of operation of 10am to 11.30pm each day.

Amanda says art is a great way of allowing people the opportunity to communicate their feelings.

“We organised this exhibition as we believe art is a form of communication, even when we don’t have the words. As such, it is open to artists from all backgrounds - male or female, old or young, professional or not,” she said.

“Each time we see an artist's piece - regardless of their culture, sex or age - we get an insight into how that artist sees the world. No matter how one sees the world, we all want the same thing. To be listened to, be understood and loved.”

There are 55 pieces of art which will be for sale, and all the proceeds go directly to the artists themselves.

All are welcome to attend the launch event of the exhibition on Friday.

The paintings will then be on display in the Nicholas Street venue until Sunday, October 13.
