A LIMERICK girl and her friend stole the hearts of the nation on Friday night when they appeared on the Late Late Toy Show.

Anastasia and her family fled the war in Ukraine and they now live with Molly Quinlan and her family in Knockainey.

Anastasia, her sister Vika and their mother Olena arrived from Odesa in August and have been settling into Irish life.

Molly's brother James and their parents Micheal and Cathy, welcomed the little girls and their mother into their home and now the children all enjoy playing together.

Molly and Anastasia lit up the screen as they spoke about their friendship and they even said a few words in each other's native language.

Cathy told the Limerick Leader/Limerick Live that the family had settled in well and Anastasia had joined the local Brownies group as well as Knockainey soccer club.

“Anastasia and Olena didn't really understand what it meant at first for her to be on the Toy Show. I kept saying to them that it was like they had won a golden ticket.

Anastasia's father Costa followed his family to Ireland along with his cousin in September and they are now staying with Cathy's father in Newcastle West.

Ryan surprised all the children with new Munster jerseys and then told them the exciting news that they were going to be VIPs at the province's clash with Leinster in Thomond Park on St Stephen's Day.
