BREAKING: Noreen Stokes, Fine Gael, elected to Cappamore-Kilmallock district on ninth count

She says her late Dad would be so proud of her getting the seat

IT WAS a bitter sweet victory for Fine Gael’s Noreen Stokes in Cappamore-Kilmallock, as her late father was with her in 2019, when she missed out.

“I will not forget my Dad, he would be so proud,” she said in an emotional tribute.

“Tonight I’ve made it and I know I’ve made him so proud,” she added.

The Pallasgreen woman was thrilled with all of her first preference votes and said it’s fantastic to not only win a seat, but to take one as a newcomer as well.

“I’m feeling wonderful - dreams really do come true,” she told Limerick Live.

“It’s down to the people, it’s down to the constituency and the voters,” she said.

She said that she has been working towards this goal for some time.

“I have not stopped working since that last election and it has paid off tonight. Hard work will pay off,” Cllr Stokes said.

Of course behind every successful candidate is somebody who is keeping them well fed and Cllr Stokes paid tribute to her mother in this regard.

She thanked everyone on her campaign who knocked on doors and wore down their shoes on the campaign trail.
