CAO applicants encouraged to choose Limerick as their student city

CAO applicants and those looking to enter tertiary education are being encouraged to choose Limerick as their Student City.
A social media based campaign is being launched which showcases how Limerick can give students the edge when it comes to college and degree choice, lifestyle and future opportunities as they embrace student life.
Limerick Student City, in its second year, is a collaboration between Limerick City and County Council, University of Limerick, Technological University of the Shannon and Mary Immaculate College and similar tertiary education organisations, that creates awareness of Limerick as a leading student city.
The campaign highlights Limerick as a top choice for higher and further education study, offering a complete experience and the only location outside of Dublin that can boast three university-level educational institutes.
For those that already live and study here, we all know that there is ‘No Place Like Limerick’ to be a student.
Limerick City is a vibrant, welcoming, fun and fast paced city where everyone, whether an undergraduate, mature, postgraduate, further, continuing or professional education or international student, can gain the most from their college experience and have world class opportunities for employment afterwards.
Limerick Student City builds on the quality and narrative of the Limerick: Atlantic Edge, European Embrace brand to encapsulate the benefits of living and studying in Limerick, so they can be promoted on a national and international basis by the third level sector to attract more students.
Donn O’Sullivan, Head of Marketing & Communications with Limerick City and County Council said the campaign showcases all that Limerick has to offer in terms of student life.
UL SU President, Maeve Rutledge, said: “I made Limerick my home after moving here in 2018 to study Applied Languages at UL. I chose to stay in Limerick after finishing my degree because of the life I’ve built here beyond my studies. I’ve made friends for life, enjoyed incredible events, nightlife, and culture.
"Not only does Limerick offer some of the best education opportunities in the country, but it’s a place to make real connections beyond your studies.”
Niall Haughton, TUS Student Union President for the Midwest said the city is steeped in rich culture, maintains an ethos of high-quality education and possesses a multitude of colleges to choose from including one of Ireland's newest Technological Universities - TUS.
"From nightclubs to sports facilities, the Wild Atlantic Way and much more, there is something for everyone in Limerick. So, when you make the choice, make it Limerick city," he added.
Aoife Gleeson, President of MISU, MIC’s Students’ Union, said ‘Limerick is THE student city.
"Whatever you are interested in; sport, history, art, fashion, culture, theatre, film, music; Limerick has something for everyone and is the place to be," she concluded.
