Coordinator put in place to help deliver Ryder Cup 2027 in Limerick

A COORDINATOR has been put in place to help to deliver the 2027 Ryder Cup tournament, which is set to take place in Adare Manor.
Elaine O'Connor, a Limerick City and County Council executive has taken on the role on a five-year term.
A long-term council employee, she has more than 30 years of experience in the management of sport, culture, youth and community development across Ireland and Britain.
She was among a small delegation from the local authority and Adare Manor who travelled to this year’s Ryder Cup in Italy.
“Elaine's new role will be to coordinate preparations within the council as Limerick prepares to host the Ryder Cup in 2027. The visit to Rome provided invaluable insight into the staging of the third largest sporting event in the world,” a local authority spokesperson said.

She will support colleagues in their delivery of infrastructural projects, public realm works, plus tourism and the visitor experience for people attending the Ryder Cup.
Digital services, marketing and communications are within her remit, as well as engagement with Irish and Limerick people based around the world.
She will also come up with a financial and resourcing plan for the council's activities around the tournament, which is the third most popular sporting event of its kind in the world.
