Darragh O'Donovan reunites with viral Limerick flag and its owner
Weeks after planting the green and white flag in the sod at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, Darragh O'Donovan has been reunited with both the famous flag and its owner.
THE FOOTAGE became one of the defining moments of Limerick's Munster final triumph, sparking debate, inspiring memes, and even appearing on T-shirts.
Now, weeks after planting the green and white flag in the sod at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, Darragh O'Donovan has been reunited with both the famous flag and its owner.
The Limerick midfielder posed for a photograph with UHL nurse Kathleen Delaney during the county's All-Ireland celebrations, bringing the story behind one of the summer's most talked-about sporting moments full circle.
The photo was posted on the Cuimhnigh ar Luimneach Facebook page.
The now-famous flag was also spotted in Croke Park just hours before the throw-in on All-Ireland final day as Ms Delaney - who was accompanied by Nora Cunningham and Majella Corkery - made her way into the stadium.
Discussing the famous Munster final moment with the Irish Examiner following Limerick's All-Ireland final win against Galway, Limerick star Darragh said the moment was "not in disrespect to Cork or anything like that" but instead, a "moment of madness”.
“We were saying it on the field afterwards (on All-Ireland final day), but the jubilation after the Munster final, because it was a one-point win, and (All-Ireland final) was an 11-point win, they're different.
"When you win by one point, it's brilliant. It was a moment of madness but I don't have any regrets about it either. I'd do it again tomorrow morning," said the six-time All-Ireland winner who plays his club hurling with Doon.
