Doorbell camera helps prevent theft from Limerick home
GARDAÍ are encouraging people to invest in home security measures after a doorbell camera prevented a Limerick home from being robbed.
Last Friday, January 12 a couple were in bed asleep at 1:20am in the Corbally area of Limerick.
They received a notification to their mobile phone from their doorbell video that there was movement by their front door.
The man went downstairs to discover three males in his house. Once they saw him, they ran off.
It appears that the front door had been accidently left unlocked, but the couple were lucky that they had the added layer of the doorbell video.
Sergeant Ber Leetch, crime prevention officer at Henry Street garda station said that people should always ensure their windows and doors are secure whether they are in the house or not.
