Eid dinner event to raise money for Limerick Cricket Club

A SPECIAL family fun event to mark the end of the Muslim festival of Ramadan will take place this weekend in Limerick.
Garryowen Rugby Club in Dooradoyle will play host to a dinner to celebrate Eid, which brings to a close a month of fasting for those who follow the Islam faith.
All the money raised will go towards the development of Limerick Cricket Club and its youth development programme.
Taking place from 2.30pm this Saturday, April 22, entry to the event costs €15 for adults, €10 for children, and free for under-fives.
In return, people will get a traditional Muslim dish, with those attending asked to bring some food themselves to share with everyone else.
There will be face-painting, a retro games arcade, and an ice-cream trucks.
If numbers allow, children will also get in the crease and challenge the grown-ups to a game of cricket!
Local councillor Azad Talukder, who is supporting the event, said: "Limerick Cricket Club was established 50 years ago, yet still does not have its own pitch. Any club around for this long needs this. We want to raise money for the youth academy to train the next generation of cricketers."
"The event is about raising awareness and some money for the youth academy," said the Fianna Fail man.
The food offering will reflect what is around an Eid dinner table, Cllr Talukder added.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of their faith, colour or creed.
