PERMISSION has been sought to carry out improvement works at Askeaton garda station.

The proposed works at the former district headquarters include the construction of a new universally-accessible public entrance to the station.

The entrance would consist of a new single storey entrance porch, accessible steps and ramps.

Plans also include four parking spaces and one accessible parking space with associated ancillary works to the front of the station.

The plans have been proposed in accordance with the provisions of Part 9, Planning and Development Regulations 2001.

An assessment was carried out which determined that the work would not have any likely significant effects on any Natura 2000 sites.
