Fake €50 notes in circulation in Limerick 'extremely believable', warn gardaí

Two incidents in close succession were reported to gardaí
TWO INCIDENTS of counterfeit notes in circulation in Limerick have been reported to gardaí.
Retailers in Limerick are being warned of fake €50 notes which were “extremely believable”, according to gardaí, who have subsequently issued a warning.
“We’ve had two separate incidents reported over the last week in Limerick in relation to counterfeit notes in circulation,” said Sergeant Aoife Bannon of Henry St garda station.
“Retailers should be aware of this in the lead-up to one of the busiest times of year for shopping and we advise that all retailers should at least have a pen for marking notes to ensure they are legal tender,” she said.
