FORMER county footballer Pa Ranahan has been appointed the new business development manager at a West Limerick credit union.

The Ballysteen clubman, who retired from county football in 2016, has been installed at Cois Sionna Desmond Credit Union.

He comes with a wealth of experience with more than 16 years in the financial sector dealing with personal loans, business loans, and farm loans at the credit union which has branches in Glin, Askeaton and Newcastle West.

It’s chief executive Bernie O’Dea said: “The appointment of a new business development officer for the credit union is a positive step for the credit union as we begin to expand our services to members especially at a time when other financial institutions are leaving the market or reducing services.

The Cois Sionna Desmond Credit Union recently merged with Rathkeale and District Credit Union.

This merger brings the new company’s size to more than €240m.

A full suite of financial services is offered from loans, savings, current accounts and debit cards.
