Lough Gur Lakeshore Park and Visitor Centre secured a Green Flag award and achieved the 2024 Green Heritage Site Accreditation. This additional recognition underscores the park’s commitment to preserving its unique landscape and historical significance.

The People’s Park continues to uphold its standard of excellence, maintaining its Green Flag status and providing a well-managed space for residents and visitors alike.

The Community Award that Abbeyfeale Biodiversity Park received celebrates the park’s outstanding community-led efforts in promoting biodiversity and environmental stewardship.

The 2024 Green Flag Awards were announced on Friday, November 8, by An Taisce Environmental Education. The International Green Flag Award was awarded to 120 parks, gardens, greenways and wildlife sanctuaries around the country.

The award acknowledges excellence in the management of those green spaces which are freely open to the public.

The Green Flag Award is an international accreditation program that recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces. Managed by the UK environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, the award is delivered in partnership with national operators around the world.

In Ireland, An Taisce Environmental Education has been the national operator since 2016.
